What's an IAP file? What do I do with an IAP file?

IAP = Infinity Add-on Patcher File (the Infinity Add-on Patcher is the major part of IEES and is also a part of IEEP)

An IAP file is a collection of zero to many TBG files and/or zero to many non-TBG game files (and can include files that go into any game directory, not only the Override folder). This makes it a perfect way to distribute item packs or complex customizations that require more than one file/TBG to create your customization. When creating an IAP file (using the "Infinity Add-on Patcher" in the IEEP) you also have the option to have any included TXT (text) file popup after the import of an IAP file is completed. The reasons to make IAP files are:

Allows the person who downloads something that includes many files to see only ONE file to install/import and this one file will install all TBG's and other files in one simple import operation.

Allows the need to provide specific instructions about putting certain files in one directory/folder and others in another location obsolete, if an IAP is made properly this is all done automatically.

Forces your text file to popup (if you choose) to make it more likely the person installing/importing your customization will read it.

Much the same as a TBG file:

If you have created an IAP file, you can now email it to people so they too can have this new and unique creation in their game (which helps for multiplayer games, as all players need to have the same files). Or, you can put it up on a web site...either your own or email it to someone who already has a site for game customizations.

If you have just downloaded an IAP (hopefully inside of a ZIP file), you need to unzip it (using a program like WinZip... http://www.winzip.com ) and then use the program called "Infinity Engine Editor Standard (or Pro)" from this site (TeamBG.com) to install/import any IAP files into your game. This will drop the required files into your Override folder and any other folders required and make the appropriate text updates to your DIALOG.TLK file (support for DIALOGF.TLK file coming later) for any TBG files included inside an IAP file.

Now you may still need to use an editor or the CLUAConsole to get these customization into your gameplay...that depends upon what it is you just installed/imported.
